Driving Change: A Conversation with The Legal Revolution

The repercussions of cannabis prohibition persist in the United States despite shifting attitudes and ongoing efforts toward legalization. While adult-use cannabis is legal in a growing number of states, millions still contend with the consequences of past convictions, and thousands remain incarcerated for cannabis-related offenses. There is important work to be done on this front, and organizations like The Legal Revolution are leading the way.

The Legal Revolution advocates for policies that redress the harms of the war on drugs through legal initiatives that center wellness, racial equity and the expertise of those most impacted by the law. One of their initiatives, the Prison to Law Pipeline, is a first-of-its-kind program that offers legal education to incarcerated scholars in Minnesota prisons, including ABA-accredited Juris Doctorate degrees and ABA-approved paralegal degrees. This powerful project provides the support and resources needed for students to harness the power of their personal experiences and effect real, positive change within the legal system and their own communities. 

We first collaborated with The Legal Revolution last year during an expungement workshop where, together, we supported 70 clients in navigating the process of clearing cannabis convictions. This year, we are excited to further our partnership by donating 10% of our online sales during the month of April to their organization.
